Carpet cleaning for homes, rentals and move-outs

Most of our calls come from homeowners who haven't had the carpet done in years, landlords turning a unit between tenants, and renters who want their deposit back. Families with kids and pets are a big part of it too.

If you think your carpet is too far gone, call anyway. We've cleaned plenty of carpet people were about to rip out. One move-out customer didn't think theirs could be saved. Another hadn't had the carpet cleaned in over six years and said it looked new when we left.

Why High Desert carpet gets dirty so fast

It's the wind. Fine dust and sand blow into every house out here, even with the windows shut. That grit sinks to the bottom of the carpet and grinds against the fibers every time someone walks across it. That's why hallways turn gray and the carpet by the slider wears out first.

Here's the good news: most of that gray is dirt, not wear. A traffic lane that looks ruined usually comes back a lot lighter once the packed dirt is rinsed out. If a spot is actually worn through, we'll tell you.

How to get ready for a carpet cleaning

• Pick up toys, shoes and cords
• Move small and breakable things off the floor
• Show us the spots that bug you most when we get there
• Have a place for pets and kids to hang out while it dries
• Plan to run a fan or the AC for a few hours after

What carpet cleaning can't fix

We'd rather tell you now than surprise you later. Bleach spots, burns and sun fading are missing color, not dirt, so no cleaning brings them back. Some dye stains, like red drinks or hair dye, get lighter but may not disappear. And carpet that's been crushed flat by years of traffic will look cleaner, but it may not fluff all the way back up.

Rental machine or professional cleaning?

A machine from the grocery store can freshen up a carpet. The trouble is it leaves a lot of water and soap behind. Leftover soap is sticky, sticky carpet grabs dirt, and the carpet can look dirty again in a few weeks. A professional cleaning rinses the carpet and pulls much more water back out, so it dries faster and stays clean longer.

Keeping it clean between visits

Vacuum slowly, with a few passes in different directions, at least once a week in the busy rooms. Put a mat at every outside door to catch dust before it gets to the carpet. Blot spills with a white towel and plain water instead of scrubbing. Most homes do fine with a cleaning every 12 to 18 months. With pets or a lot of foot traffic, go sooner.

How it works

1. We walk the rooms with you and point out anything that may not come out all the way.
2. We move light furniture and pre-treat traffic lanes and spots.
3. We clean with hot water extraction and go over the heavy areas again.
4. We groom the carpet and set furniture back on protectors so nothing stains the damp carpet.
