VCT strip and wax
VCT, or vinyl composition tile, is the hard tile you see in a lot of stores, schools and offices. It holds up well, but the wax on top wears thin and old layers pile up. Eventually the floor looks dull, yellow or dirty even right after it's mopped.
Stripping takes the old wax all the way off, along with the dirt sealed into it. Then we lay down fresh coats of finish so the floor shines again and has a new layer protecting the tile.
How a strip and wax goes

How long before people can walk on a waxed floor?
Once the last coat is dry, usually a few hours. Heavy furniture and equipment should wait longer so they do not mark the fresh finish.
What is the difference between stripping and a top coat?
Stripping removes all the old wax down to the tile. A top coat, sometimes called a scrub and recoat, cleans the surface and adds a fresh layer without taking everything off. It works when the floor is not too far gone.
Do you need the space empty?
For a strip and wax, yes, the floor needs to be clear while it dries. For carpet, we can work around furniture that stays.
